The Beech Consultancy was established to offer a unique and effective approach to performance development
When it was established by Steve Benfield and Glenn Malkin in 2000, The Beech Consultancy aimed to be unique in the way it delivered performance development solutions to organisations across the Humber and Yorkshire regions. It quickly gained an enviable reputation amongst some of the area's key organisations for delivering highly effective programmes including coaching, management development and performance development consultancy.
The reason for this success was primarily a strong focus on the specific needs of each organisation, taking into account the context and culture of each business, and building a close collaborative relationship with key people. Today, that philosophy remains a
cornerstone of our success. We continue to build strong relationships with our clients, now spreading across all of the North of England into other regional and national organisations. With an employee and associate base of around twenty people, The Beech Consultancy now offers customised solutions to performance development needs across numerous industry sectors and organisation types.
What are the elements which remain important to our success and growth? Strong values, exceptional quality and the very best people are what drive our own performance. We know that in order to deliver the results our clients needs, we need a good fit between our personal and professional values and those of the client. We therefore choose to only work with organisations where we feel the match of values will result in appropriate, meaningful and sustainable outcomes.
In 2006 The Beech Consultancy introduced the Centre for Performance Development. This was a departure from the entirely bespoke solution and consultancy approach which had been a feature of the business since its formation. The Centre incorporates a number of standard 'open' programmes commencing with the Certificate in Performance Development Coaching, and now including the Diploma in Performance Development Coaching and the Developing Leadership Potential programme. However, the Centre also recognises the need to offer our learning community the opportunity to develop in other ways, and encourages interaction and engagement in other areas. These include the Co-coaching Forum in conjunction with the Association for Coaching and participation in events like our own People Conference. This is a virtual space where our wider community can interact and support each other informally as well as through formal development pathways, and we hope will grow into a valuable opportunity for everyone.
The Beech Consultancy has high aspirations for the coming few years and will be focussing on growth in new areas, developing a greater presence in the regions we are already active in and, above all, maintaining the high quality relationships our clients already enjoy.

I start with the premise that the function of leadership is to produce more leaders, not followers.
